Multiple Positions — Universities, TVET Institutions, Nursing Schools & Primary Teachers’ Colleges

Role Description

TEDA Institutional Brand Ambassadors are dynamic student leaders, changemakers, and community-minded young people currently enrolled in higher institutions of learning across Uganda.

They serve as official TEDA campus envoys, representing TEDA within their institutions while mobilizing fellow students, promoting youth advocacy, amplifying TEDA’s programs and campaigns, promoting the TEDA YES Fund, and identifying brilliant but vulnerable learners who may require mentorship, educational support, or scholarship opportunities.

Target Institutions

TEDA welcomes applications from students enrolled in:

  • Universities
  • Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions
  • Nursing and health training institutions
  • Primary Teachers’ Colleges
  • Other recognized higher institutions of learning across Uganda

STRATEGIC ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To ensure continuity, effective leadership transitions, and sufficient time for ambassadors to contribute meaningfully before graduation, TEDA will prioritize students who are either beginning or midway through their academic journey.

For 4-Year Programmes

Examples: Engineering, Law and related programmes

  • Applicants should preferably be in Year 2 of their programme.

For 3-Year Programmes

Examples: Bachelor of Commerce, Information Technology and related programmes

  • Applicants in Year 1 or Year 2 are highly preferred.

For 2-Year Diploma Programmes

  • Applicants should preferably be in Year 1 of their programme.

Note: The academic-year preference is intended to support continuity and leadership succession. Exceptional candidates outside these categories may still be considered based on their leadership capacity, commitment, and potential contribution to TEDA.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Campus Mobilization

  • Establish and strengthen TEDA student chapters within their institutions.
  • Mobilize students to participate in TEDA programs, dialogues, campaigns, and initiatives.
  • Organize campus-based awareness activities and youth dialogues around TEDA’s core thematic pillars.
  • Identify opportunities for TEDA to engage with student associations, clubs, and institutional leadership.

2. Talent & Vulnerability Identification

  • Identify talented and high-potential students who face financial or other challenges that may affect their education.
  • Serve as the link between vulnerable learners and TEDA’s mentorship, scholarship, and education-support initiatives.
  • Gather and communicate relevant information about emerging student needs and opportunities.
  • Promote a transparent and responsible approach to identifying potential beneficiaries.

3. Digital Amplification

  • Actively promote TEDA’s programs, campaigns, publications, and success stories across student networks.
  • Share TEDA content through WhatsApp groups, X (Twitter), TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and other relevant platforms.
  • Support the growth of TEDA’s digital community and online visibility.
  • Encourage students to engage with TEDA’s podcast, forums, campaigns, and other digital initiatives.

4. TEDA Youth Fund Advocacy

  • Create awareness among student entrepreneurs and young innovators about the TEDA Youth Fund.
  • Share information about available training, mentorship, entrepreneurship, and funding opportunities.
  • Identify promising student entrepreneurs and innovators who may benefit from TEDA’s support.
  • Encourage responsible entrepreneurship, innovation, and youth-led solutions within campus communities.

5. Leadership & Handover Planning

  • Build a strong pipeline of future student leaders within the institution.
  • Mentor younger students who demonstrate leadership potential.
  • Document key activities, contacts, partnerships, and lessons learned.
  • Support a structured handover of the TEDA Ambassador role before graduation or departure from the institution.
  • Ensure continuity of TEDA’s presence and activities on campus.

TEDA Brand Ambassadors are expected to demonstrate:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Commitment to community service and youth development.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Active participation in campus and community activities.
  • Ability to mobilize and work effectively with other young people.
  • Strong digital and social media engagement skills.
  • Willingness to represent TEDA professionally.
  • Commitment to delivering agreed activities and reporting on results.
