Youth dialogue, Civic Education and Governance

Young people are central to building peaceful, inclusive, and accountable societies. Yet many remain excluded from decision-making, have limited opportunities to influence public policy, and face barriers to meaningful civic participation. TEDA creates safe, inclusive, and innovative platforms where young people engage with leaders, shape public discourse, influence policy, and become active contributors to sustainable development.

Through evidence-based dialogue, civic education, digital engagement, leadership development, and policy advocacy, we empower young people to move from being heard to influencing change.

Our Focus

• Youth Policy Dialogue – Convening high-level dialogues that connect young people with policymakers, government institutions, cultural leaders, development partners, and the private sector.
• The Teso Youth Forum – Our flagship annual platform bringing together youth leaders, decision-makers, innovators, academia, and development partners to co-create solutions for Eastern Uganda’s development.
• Digital Civic Engagement – Leveraging X Spaces, webinars, podcasts, and digital campaigns to expand civic participation and amplify youth voices beyond geographical boundaries.
• Civic & Voter Education – Promoting constitutional literacy, democratic values, electoral integrity, peaceful participation, and informed citizenship.
• Governance & Social Accountability – Equipping communities and young leaders to monitor public service delivery, advocate for transparency, and strengthen accountability.
• Peacebuilding & Social Cohesion – Fostering dialogue, tolerance, conflict prevention, and inclusive leadership across diverse communities.
• Youth Leadership & Public Policy – Building the next generation of ethical leaders capable of influencing local, national, and global policy processes.
• Research, Evidence & Policy Advocacy – Generating youth-led research, policy briefs, and recommendations that inform public decision-making.
• Women’s Leadership & Inclusive Participation – Promoting the meaningful participation of young women, persons with disabilities, and marginalized groups in governance and leadership.
