Across Teso and Bukedi, thousands of young people leave school without the practical skills, opportunities, or capital needed to participate meaningfully in the economy. High youth unemployment, limited access to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), low financial inclusion, and weak market linkages leave many young people—especially those Not in Employment, Education, or Training (NEET)—trapped in cycles of poverty and dependency. Bukedi has one of Uganda’s highest NEET rates, underscoring the urgency of investing in employable skills and entrepreneurship.

TEDA empowers young women and men with market-driven vocational skills, entrepreneurship training, digital competencies, and business development support that prepare them not just for employment, but for enterprise creation, innovation, and sustainable livelihoods.
